While Mayor de Blasio's plan to change admissions policies for the city's specialized high schools grabbed headlines over the summer, the reality is that school segregation goes far behind these eight elite high schools. School segregation exists at every level and in every corner of NYC's vast public school system. At this event you'll learn more about the problem we face, the possible solutions, and how to get involved.
The event will be moderated by Sam Rosaldo, educator, nycASID Steering Committee member and NYC public school parent. Speakers will include:
Nikole Hannah-Jones, investigative reporter for the New York Times Magazine
Student activists from IntegrateNYC
Parents of students in DOE schools
Doors open at 6pm. Please note that security scanning will be required at the entrance to the event.
